Ten Things Courts Can Do

Continuing the theme of top-ten action lists, check out the ten suggestions for “evidence-based sentencing initiatives to control crime and costs” in this Pew Center on the States presentation to the U.S. Sentencing Commission (PDF p. 16). Incidentally, did you know that the three states with the highest drops in crime in the 2000s — New York, New Jersey, and Maryland — also reduced their incarceration rates during that time? (PDF p. 9)
